Biography

Dr. Jeremy Smallwood was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in Scotland. He earned his B.S. in Astrophysics from Baylor University and his Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His dissertation focused on protoplanetary disks around binary star systems with implications for planet formation. As a postdoc, Dr. Smallwood served as a distinguished postdoctoral fellow at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics in Taipei, Taiwan. He then went to the University of Oklahoma as the Dodge Family Prize Postdoctoral Fellow. Finally, he joined Baylor University as an assistant professor in the fall of 2026. 

Research Interests

Planet formation, protoplanetary disks, hydrodynamical and N-body simulations, free-floating planets, and computational astrophysics.
